1903 Goldschmidt: Behavioral Investigations of Children’s and Teens’ Eating Lab (BITE Lab)

Supervising Faculty: Dr. Andrea Goldschmidt

Contact: Dr. Andrea Goldschmidt, GOLDSCHA@pitt.edu

Area of Research: Clinical Psychology

Description of Research: Our research is focused on investigating different aspects of children and teens’ eating behaviors. We currently have three active studies: Project THINK, Project REST, and Project HOME. Project THINK is a longitudinal study observing how eating behaviors and executive functioning change during the transition from childhood to adolescence. Project REST examines how sleep affects eating behavior and self-regulation in children ages 8-12. We use methodologies such as neuroimaging (MRI), ecological momentary assessments via smartphone (EMA) and sleep actigraphy watches. Project HOME seeks to deliver evidence-based treatments for adolescent eating disorders in the home setting, in the context of community-based mental health.

Duties of Students: Any interested students will assist with running study visits, preparing study visit materials, entering data, and contributing to papers or poster presentations.
