Description: The Sally and Howard Levin Clubhouse, a licensed psychiatric and social rehabilitation program, is the only Clubhouse in Pittsburgh accredited by Clubhouse International. It adheres to the evidence-based Clubhouse model and the 37 Standards for Clubhouse Programs™ used across more than 300 Clubhouses worldwide. “Clubhouse,” as it is commonly called, helps people whose lives have been disrupted by mental illnesses such as major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or schizophrenia. Members make important contributions to their Clubhouse community while forming meaningful relationships in a safe and encouraging environment that nurtures strengths and fosters whole-person wellness. Members thrive by being needed, wanted, and appreciated. The Clubhouse welcomes people of all races, religions, colors, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, national origins, and veteran status.

Duties of Intern: Clubhouse is a place where members become whole again by building equal relationships, while doing meaningful daily work. Members, staff and interns work together as partners, relying on each other’s strengths, talents, and abilities, creating a welcoming, supportive, and trusting Clubhouse community. Interns will learn about all aspects of the Clubhouse International Recovery Model by building relationships with the members through daily interaction including Touch Base events, Unit Meetings and Community Forums. They will shadow staff who complete functional analyses, goal planning and daily notes and will eventually co-facilitate these actions. They will also complete a mental health and human rights advocacy project pre-approved by Clubhouse by the conclusion of their internship.
