Instructor Frequently Asked Questions

Instructor FAQ

My students ask me questions about the requirement all the time. What should I do?

Tell them to email their questions to sfraundo@pitt.edu.

How do I explain the requirement to my students?

The best thing to do is to let me come to your class to discuss the requirement and answer their questions. This makes it more likely that the students will contact me directly at sfraundo@pitt.edu if they have questions (which is good for you!). I will also provide you with text to include in your syllabus.

When does the pool open and close?

The pool opens on the first day of classes, and it closes on the Friday of the last week of classes (see the University's academic calendar for these dates).

What do I do if I have a problem?

Just contact the coordinator at sfraundo@pitt.edu.

What if my students are not yet 18?

Students under the age of 18 cannot participate in research, unless the study has been specifically approved by the IRB to include people under age 18.

If there are no suitable studies available, students need to write the papers instead.

Students who turn 18 during the semester after welcome to participate in research studies after they turn 18.
