Requirements

The department has several unique requirements, including research and laboratory requirements.

 

NEW MAJOR ONLINE ORIENTATION

This orientation is for students who declared psychology as a major on or before September 4, 2009. If you declared after September 4, 2009, DO NOT complete the current Orientation. You will need to check back in early January to complete your online orientation.

Advising Office

ADVISING
The Psychology Advising Office will help you make important decisions. Need to meet with an advisor? Call our office (412-624-4540) to schedule an appointment!

ASSIGNED ADVISORS

All psychology students will have an assigned advisor. For newly declared students, you will receive an introductory email after the declaration deadline of the term in which you declared. You may contact the advising office at 412-624-4540 after the declaration deadline if you have not received an email verifying who your advisor is. You will see your advisor for all advising appointments and registration.

Monday-Thursday: 9:00am-4:30pm
Friday: 9:00am-12:00pm

Walk-in Advising Hours:
Monday-Thursday: 10:00am-2:00pm
Friday: 9:00am- 12:00pm

Learn Through Experience

Experiential learning takes place outside the classroom through research with faculty, internships, or service learning. We encourage you to consider experiential learning as part of your total educational experience at Pitt.

We offer the following options:

• Supervised field placement
• Directed reading
• Directed research
• Undergraduate teaching assistants
• Honors in Psychology
