| Arts and Sciences Fellowship | Used to recruit doctoral students of exceptional promise and ability when they first enroll in the PhD program. May also be used for continuing students. |
| Andrew Mellon Predoctoral Fellowship | Awarded to students of exceptional promise and ability when they have advanced to the dissertation stage. Awards are made on an annual basis and may be renewed. A fellow who wishes a renewal must file a new application form with supporting material, except for transcripts from other institutions submitted previously. They will be evaluated on overall merit and on progress made toward the PhD during their fellowship year. Fellows are eligible for a maximum of two years of support. Students who are supported by this fellowship may not hold a teaching assistant or teaching fellowship in addition to this award. | Book Center Scholarship | Awarded through the Arts and Sciences Graduate Office, these scholarships are made possible through an arragement whereby the University Book Center sets aside a small percentage of its net profit each year; this fund is used as a Book Award Endowment. Priority is given to applicants in masters level programs who do not have financial assistance from the University or from outside sources and students needing books for coursework (as opposed to dissertation or other research) who have not previously received a Book Center Scholarship. | Dean's Tuition Scholarship | Awarded by the Arts and Sciences Office of Graduate STudies to returning graduate students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. |
| Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Program | The purpose of the awards is to enable University of Pittsburgh students to have an in-depth immersion in another culture for at least five weeks. It is important that applicants choose a program that will maximize their contact with the populace abroad and be accepted by the University for credit. |

| Provost Development Fund | This program provides financial support and development opportunities for women, minorities, and disadvantaged students pursuing the doctorate or a professional degree that would qualify them for an academic or administrative appointment. Assistance is made available on the basis of need and merit. Ideally, the candidate for the award should be in the advanced stages of the PhD program so that the support for one year would complete the program. Applications are available in the Office of the Provost, 801 Cathedral of Learning, in the A&S Office of Graduate Studies, 5141 Sennott Square, and in Psychology Graduate Office. |
| Bassell Publication Award | Awarded annually by the Clinical Psychology Program for the best first author publication in the previous academic year. |
| Bassell Student Award | Awarded annually by the Clinical Psychology Program to a student prior to leaving on internship and recognizes outstanding academic achievement in the program and promise for future accomplishments. |
| The Bonka Boneva Intercultural Research Award | Awarded to an outstanding graduate student whose research concerns issues that contribute to intercultural understanding and diversity in psychology and/or who is an international student in the Department of Psychology who actively contributes to a diverse department. |
| Graduate Student Diversity Book Scholarship | The goals of the scholarship are to support a diverse student community and to promote diversity-related research within these departments. Based on the number of applications, roughly half of the scholarships will be awarded to students from underrepresented groups regardless of their area of research, and half will be awarded to students whose research concerns mind, behavior, or well-being of individuals from underrepresented groups. For the purposes of such awards, underrepresented groups include those who have been traditionally underrepresented in the psychological and learning sciences, e.g., racial or ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, individuals with physical disabilities, first-generation college students, or international students. Up to four annual scholarships of $250 each will be awarded to Psychology Department or LRDC-affiliated graduate students by the Psychology Department and the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC) to support the purchase of professional books related to students¹ research and coursework. |
| E.B. Huey Award | Established by Don Routh, PhD, an alumnus of the program and former Director of the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Miami, in gratitude for the excellence of his graduate education in clinical psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. The award providesa maximum of $1,000 to be used for master's thesis (approved proposal required), dissertation (approved proposal required), or other research project expenses, including professional travel. Proposals for amounts less than $1,000 are encouraged. Proposals will be reviewed by clinical program faculty based on criteria of merit and need. |
| A. David Lazovik Award | Established by Grace Lazovick, Ph.D., Emeritus Faculty Member, in memory of her husband, David Lazovik, Ph.D., who was one of the founders of the Clinical Psychology Program and was Chair of the Department of Psychology from 1974 to 1080. Each award provides $1,000 to be used for master's thesis, dissertation, or other research project expenses, including professional travel. Proposals will be reviewed by clinical program faculty based on criteria of merit and need. |
| M. Moskowitz Teaching Award | Award made each spring term by faculty jury appointed by the departmental chair. The candidate must have taught at least one lecture course as the primary or sole instructor and must submit a teaching portfolio to the jury. The award amount is approximately $500. |
| The Dr. Ruth L. Myers Memorial Award | Research Excellence Award ($500) is conferred for an outstanding research project being conducted by a graduate student, either proposed or ongoing. Mentoring excellence award ($500) is conferred for a graduate student who has distinguished him- or herself as an outstanding mentor of undergraduate students in the lab or the classroom. |
| Tim Post Award | Awarded to a graduate student in Learning, Developmental, or Cognitive Psychology for a highly significant research project. The award of approximately $500 and is to be used to firther the stduent's professional development. |
| Weisberg-Colavita Award | Awarded for outstanding research to a student in the Biological and Health Psychology Program by the program faculty, usually in the spring term. The award is approximately $1,000. |
| American Psychological Association (APA) Student Travel Award Program | The purpose of the Travel Award program is to help psychology graduate students travel to the annual APA Convention to present their research. |
| Arts and Sciences PBC and Alumni Travel Fellowship | Available to graduate students participating in conferences. |
| Arts and Sciences Graduate Student Organization Travel Grants | The A&S-GSO sponsors grants for travel to an academic conference to present a paper or a poster, or to participate in an interactive workshop. |
| Graduate and Professional Student Assembly Travel Grants | GPSA established this program to provide financial assistance to graduate and professional students at the University of Pittsburgh who are participating in academic or professional conferences. |

| Arts and Sciences Hot Metal Bridge Program | The point of the HMBP is to bridge the gap between an undergraduate degree and a graduate training program, and to help individuals prepare themselves for a successful program of doctoral studies. |
| American Sociological Association Minority Fellowship Program | Seeks to attract talented doctoral students to ensure a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to assume leadership roles in research related to the nation's mental health and drug abuse research agendas |
| Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships Program | Awards are made to individuals who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students |
| Gates Millenium Scholars Program | The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential. Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's preeminent Latino scholarship organization, providing the Latino community more college scholarships and educational outreach support than any other organization in the country. American Indian Graduate Center is the largest national provider of scholarships for American Indian and Alaska Native students. |

| National Institute of General Medical Sciences Minority Awards | Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Predoctoral Fellowships are made to outstanding graduates of the MARC U*STAR Program to help them pursue a graduate degree in the biomedical sciences. |
| National Institute of Health, Department of Health and Human Services | Mental Health Dissertation Research Grant to Increase Diversity. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to increase the diversity of the mental health research workforce by stimulating and supporting dissertation research. It will enable qualified doctoral candidates to pursue research careers in any area relevant to the research mission of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). |
